PHYSICAL EDUCATION MAKE-UP PLAN
Below is a list of several ways you can make up points lost in his/her physical education class. Please note: the chosen assignments must be typed (size 12, Times font,1.5 line spaced) and given to Mr. Paulsen no later than one week after class where points were lost. Mr. Paulsen determines the total points earned on each assignment. Poor quality work will not receive full point values.
THE STUDENT MAY:
1.Write a one-page report about the activity they are presently learning in class, or about any other activity of interest. You must list sources of information, such as the name of the book or a magazine, the title, author and page numbers. Reports copied directly will not be accepted.1 full page = +3 points
2.Read a magazine or newspaper article about health, fitness, medicine, a sportsfigure or something happening in the sports world and then write a one-pageopinion paper on the article. Be sure to include the article with your paper. The paper should be one page long.1 full page = +3 points
3.Choose fifteen vocabulary words from a sport of physical activity, and define each one. Be sure to use a book written about the sport, as a dictionary may not have the correct meaning. (Example: “love” in tennis means zero)15 well defined words = +3 points
4.Watch a sporting event such as a junior high, high school, college, or professional sport. Write a one page paper about the sporting event to include the following: type of sporting event, names of the teams, time the game started and ended, who won the game, and what was the final score. Include an evaluation of the game. What did you think about the game? What did you learn? What did you like or dislike? Any unusual rules or odd plays in the game? Have your parent or guardian sign the paper to verify that you attended the game. 1 full page = +3 points.
5.List 10 physical activities that you believe you might participate in when you are 30-40 years old and tell me why you selected those activities. 1 full page = +3pts
6.Why are kids and people less fit and more obese today than 20+ years ago? 1 full page = +3 pts
7.What are the top ten causes of death in America? Which ones can be prevented through exercise and good nutritional habits? 1 full page = +3 pts
8.Interview a JV, Varsity, or Professional Athlete about their participation in the assigned activity. Provide a summary of your findings attached to the questions that were asked (minimum of 8 questions) 1 full page = +3 pts
9.Describe the differences between aerobic and anaerobic exercise programs. State the benefits of an aerobic exercise program and the guidelines for an effective aerobic exercise. 1 full page = +3 pts
10.Describe how your culture, family, friends, and schedule influence your eating habits. Point out the good points and the bad. What changes should you make in your eating habits if any? 1 full page = +3 pts
